Hey,

I am new to Guild Wars and I Love the game so far. But I have a few questions about the game.

First can the game be completed with just the henchman you can select or do you have to play with other people also?

Second how do you know when an item is good sell to the people of the game?

Does each chapter have different skill you can acquire? Or if you play Nightfall does its have all the other skills from like Factions or Prophicies?

Also what is the difference between the chapters and leveling, armor and PVP and things like that?

Lastly what are elite skills and how do you get them?

Thanks so much in advance.

You can beat the whole game with henchmen but they are generally, in most cases anyway, worse than real players.

If it's gold and max damage go to www.guildwiki.org and search it. It'll tell you if it's worth keeping/rare.

New chapters, new skills.

Prophesies PvE is pretty long, armour is nice. PvP is limited to arenas. Factions PvE is very short, armour is o.k. You have alliance battles.
NF PvE is medium, armour is o.k. No PvP.
You also have Random Arenas, Team Arenas, Heroes Ascent and Guild vs. Guild which you can play with any campaign, but to do well you usually need skills from all of them.

You are allowed 1 elite skill per bar and you can get with with a "cap" (I've called them that for so long I forgot the proper name). You go to the boss who has the elite you want, kill it, and use the cap. Again go to www.guildwiki.org for more help.

You're welcome

The game is quite completable with just henchmen. Although in some situations, grouping with other players can make things easier. It's your call whether you want to hench it or join a PUG (pick up group).

If an item has a gold lebel, odds are it'll be in demand somewhere. There are some trade forums here where you can get price checks on things, and an auction system so you don't have to stand in town shouting "WTS" for hours on end before you can find a potential buyer.

Each chapter has 241 skills that are known as Core, and are available in every chapter. Each chapter also has a wide selection of skills that are unique to that chapter, and cannot be found in the other chapters. For example, you will find the Mesmer skill Empathy available in all chapters (as it is Core), but you will only find the Warrior skill Signet of Strength in Cantha (as it is a Factions specific skill).

Levelling happens at a different pace depending on the chapter that you create your new character in. Prophecies characters level up the slowest, Factions characters level up the fastest, and Nightfall characters level up at a rate somewhere in the middle.

Armor across the chapters always has the same stats (max for warriors/paragons is 80, max for rangers/dervishes/assassins is 70, max for spellcasters is 60) although each chapter has a number of unique armor styles available.

Each chapter also has a few different PvP options. All campaigns give access to the Battle Isles, a Core area that has most of the PvP arenas. Factions adds Alliance Battles to your options for PvP, and Nightfall introduced Hero Battles to PvP. All in all, there isn't that much difference. in this aspect.

Elite skills are exceptionally powerful skills that you can place on your bar, and are usually the cornerstones for more advanced builds. They can be recognised easily as they have a gold border, and you may only have one elite skill on your bar at any one time (if you try to put 2 elites on your bar, the first one will be removed).

There are two ways to get elite skills, depending on whether your character is a PvE character or a PvP character.

A PvE character must capture each elite skill individually. To do this, you will need a special skill called a Signet of Capture, which you can find on sale at most skill trainers in the game. You will then need to find a boss monster (identifiable by its coloured aura) that holds the elite skill you want to capture. You must kill the boss, and then activate your Signet of Capture; you will get a box that shows all the skills that boss has, and you can then choose the skill you want to capture. Your Signet of Capture will then permanently transform into the skill you choose from the dead boss (so to capture more skills, you will need to buy more signets of capture). Also note that you can only capture skills from bosses of your profession, so if you are a Paragon/Warrior, you cannot capture a skill from an Elementalist boss unless you first change your secondary profession to Elementalist. Each boss is colour coded to show you what profession it is - warrior bosses are yellow, rangers are light green, monks are blue, mesmers are purple, elementalists are red, necromancers are dark green, asassins are pink, ritualists are teal, dervishes are grey, and paragons are beige. You'll soon learn to identify all these colour codes on sight.

PvP characters have access to all elite skills (and all other regular skills) that you have unlocked on your account. To unlock a skill, you can either have a PvE character learn it or you can trade in Balthazar Faction at a Priest of Balthazar (which you will earn as you take part in PvP). You could also buy a PvP pack from the in-game store to unlock a lot of skills at once, although this is expensive and less fun than earning them all.

One final thing in this post: I would like you to go to the Guild Wars Wiki and add it to your bookmarks list, if you have not done so already. This site is an incredible resource for GW players, and has information about pretty much everything you could ever need to know about the game; from mission guides to armor arts to elite skill locations and much, much more. Also, my IGN is listed here under my avatar; feel free to add me to your buddy list and hit me up in-game anytime if you need a hand with things or just want some company.
